LIVIGNO, Italy — February 16, 2026 — High above the peaks of the Livigno Air Park, Ontario’s Megan Oldham reached a height no Canadian woman had ever touched before. Oldham, a native of Parry Sound, captured Canada’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in women’s ski big air today. She landed a triple cork 1440—three flips and four full rotations—to score 180.75 and defeat reigning champion Eileen Gu. “I just wanted to show what Ontario girls can do,” Oldham joked while draped in the Maple Leaf. “We might not have the biggest mountains, but we have the most heart.” Inside the Sport: Big Air made its debut in 2022 and involves skiers launching off a massive ramp to perform a single, high-difficulty trick. Oldham is the first woman ever to land a “triple cork” in a major international competition, a move that requires a terrifying level of spatial awareness while spinning nearly 50 feet in the air.
