The Taylor North Little League team captured the 2025 Little League World Series (LLWS) Great Lakes Regional Championship, punching their ticket to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the international tournament later this month. The regional finals were held at Durant Field in Taylor, Michigan, concluding on August 9, 2025.

The Michigan team defeated Ohio’s Cincinnati East Little League 12–4 in the championship game, showcasing a balanced mix of pitching, defense, and timely hitting.

Key performances included shortstop Eli Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, and pitcher Jackson Reid, who struck out 8 batters in 4 innings, earning the win.

Taylor North advanced through a competitive bracket featuring teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, maintaining an undefeated record throughout the regional tournament.
Regional Significance
The Great Lakes Regional Tournament is one of ten U.S. regions feeding into the Little League World Series, making it a highly competitive stage for youth baseball. Teams from Michigan have historically performed well, and this year’s championship continues the state’s strong tradition in youth baseball.
Local fans and families celebrated at Durant Field, with crowds cheering for every run and play. Tournament director Greg Thompson praised the level of competition: “These young athletes showed exceptional skill and sportsmanship. Taylor North played with heart all week, and they earned every bit of this championship.”
Looking Ahead
Taylor North will travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, later this month to compete in the Little League World Series, representing the Great Lakes region on the international stage. The LLWS begins August 15, 2025, and Michigan fans will follow closely as the team faces champions from other U.S. regions and international teams from Japan, Mexico, and Latin America.
