Detroit, MI — August 15, 2025 — The Detroit Jazz Festival is set to bring the city alive for Labor Day weekend, August 29 through September 1, 2025, with four stages of music, youth showcases, and late-night special performances. Now in its 46th year, the festival continues to celebrate Detroit’s deep jazz heritage and its influence on the global music scene.

This year, the festival will feature Jason Moran, Esperanza Spalding, and Terence Blanchard among its headliners, alongside dozens of student and community ensembles. Multiple stages at Hart Plaza and midtown Detroit will host a mix of daytime performances and the popular Midtown After Hours late-night sessions, giving audiences the chance to experience both classic and experimental jazz in an intimate, vibrant setting.

Beyond the music, the festival fosters community engagement through workshops, interactive artist sessions, and free youth programs. Food trucks and local vendors line the festival grounds, creating a lively street-fair atmosphere that complements the performances. Festival organizers encourage attendees to stroll between stages and soak in the city’s culture, making this more than just a music event — it’s a celebration of Detroit itself.
