Austin-based robotics company Apptronik closed a $350 million Series A funding round earlier this year, co-led by B Capital and Capital Factory with participation from Google and other investors. The funding, later increased to $403 million in March 2025 with additional investors, is intended to support the development and production of the company’s Apollo humanoid robots for industrial and commercial applications. Apollo robots are designed to perform tasks in manufacturing, logistics, and research environments, including sorting, inspection, and assembly. In February 2025, Apptronik announced a partnership with Jabil to test Apollo robots in real-world industrial settings. These tests are aimed at evaluating the robots’ reliability and effectiveness in practical operations. (businesswire.com)

In September 2025, Apollo robots received industry recognition, including Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Award and listings on CNBC’s Disruptor 50 and Automotive News All‑Stars. While these accolades note the technology’s potential, the robots remain primarily in the testing and pilot phase. (apptronik.com)

Apptronik originated from the University of Texas at Austin’s Human Centered Robotics Lab and continues to focus on industrial humanoid robotics. Analysts note that while funding and partnerships allow for scaling, widespread deployment and commercial viability remain uncertain, and the technology is still several steps away from autonomous, fully operational humanoid robots in everyday workplaces.
